Saint Paul is not only the capital of Minnesota or one of the Twin Cities, but it is also a home to many renowned places of interest. Among these, the Minnesota Museum of American Art and the Minnesota State Capitol. Saint Paul also has various event venues that are perfect for different occasions. For example, you can hold your wedding in the famous Saint Paul Cathedral or a convention in Saint Paul RiverCentre.
Apart from these, there are also rather quirky and cool places in the city you can visit.
Center for Lost Objects (CFLO)
Address: 957 West Seventh Street, St. Paul, MN
The gallery is a place where you can find curious art pieces and antique furniture. It features unique collectibles and upcycled goods such as jewelry and handmade crafts that are up for sale.
CFLO also holds live music performances and events such as the art material swap. Monthly, there are drawing sessions where a model poses with the different pieces in the store.
Museum of Quackery and Medical Frauds
Address: 120 W Kellogg Blvd Fl 3, St. Paul, MN
After closing in 2002, the Museum of Quackery and Medical Frauds became a part of the Science Museum of Minnesota as the “Questionable Medical Device” collection.
The collection displays a phrenological machine, once believed to measure a person’s personality based on the bumps on the head. It also has a foot-powered breast enlarger and soap products for weight loss. These were all considered unsafe by the FDA.
The Birthplace of F. Scott Fitzgerald
Address: 481 Laurel Avenue, St. Paul, MN
This columned Victorian apartment is one of three sites in Saint Paul dedicated to F. Scott Fitzgerald. The Great Gatsby writer was born in the apartment and lived there until he was two.
The building was preserved in the 1970s. In 2004, a library group added a plaque to the building, making the place an unofficial historic landmark.
Aside from Saint Paul’s unique offerings, you may want to explore the rest of Minnesota, where you can find the Orfield Labs Quiet Chamber and the Devil’s Kettle. Now, pack your bags – you’re up for an unusual adventure.
