	Karen Whyte - January 2012 - April 15th, 2012, Artist in Residence-The Urban Pear
	Biography Karen Whyte, a graduate of the University of Ottawa (Fine Arts, Studio) is an Ottawa artist. The Canadian wilderness is her focus and inspiration and she depicts these natural scenes mainly in charcoals and oils. Her paintings of waterways in Gatineau Park, Algonquin Park and Canadian shield country are her reinvention of places she has canoed and explored. Karen is from Halifax, Nova Scotia and works from her home studio in Ottawa. Artist's Statement: - Rememberable Places Like others I have many favorite places that I return to - though sometimes only in memory. These oils and charcoals represent some of the wild woods and waterways that are dear to me.
